A labour of love

1 minute read

There's something truly magical about having the resources to pour my energy into what brings me happiness.

I got lucky enough to find this with web accessibility.

I get the opportunity to break down barriers. To make room for everyone. It's a lofty goal.

Let's be honest. It's not always easy work. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one who cares about making things accessible. The late nights tweaking code, the meetings where you have to explain for the hundredth time why this matters. It can be absolutely exhausting.

But then I see I'm not alone. I find like-minded people. Those brilliant souls who get it without explanation. Who see accessibility not as a checkbox but as the right thing to do. You're among these people and I thank you for it.

And nothing, absolutely nothing, beats the feeling when someone uses what I've built and says, "This works for me. I can do this now." That moment when I've fixed something broken and directly improved someone's life? Pure magic.

It's worth every bit of the struggle. Every single time.
