As fast as possible

1 minute read

The slowest way to fix accessibility in your organisation is to fix it as fast as possible.

Because when you rush to fix accessibility, you'll end up focusing on all the surface-level changes without addressing any of the the underlying cultural issues.

The better way is slower, harder, but ultimately more effective and sustainable.

How?

  1. Invest time in training everyone involved in product.
  2. Build accessibility into all stages of product development.
  3. Secure support from top management.
  4. Get feedback from people with disabilities and make the feedback loops short. Do it consistently.

Yes, it's slower, but at least you won't end up with an "accessibility mode" that's about as useful as an ejection seat in a helicopter.
