Priority is about now

Over the last two emails, I argued that improving accessibility means having a team own the entire process.

And it shouldn't be a team you can treat separately, like "Finance" or "Legal." That team's purpose cannot be to check a box at the end of your process. And accessibility cannot be one department's problem.

When you operate like line cooks, with each person handling their station and passing it along, accessibility can't improve in any meaningful way. It only gets better when someone owns it end to end. And when everyone is involved.

There's a simple reason why.

You can't prioritise accessibility issues in isolation.

You can't look at a single issue and reliably call it the most important. Prioritisation means saying yes to some things and no to others. So you need to get good at looking at two problems side by side and deciding which one is worse, right now.

Priority is always about right now.
