The 3 ones

1 minute read

Here's a quick way to prioritise accessibility without feeling overwhelmed.

The first step is to figure out where you are. Is your team aware of accessibility? Have you planned anything already? Do you have a roadmap in place? What actions have you already taken?

And then think of the three ones.

  1. One day
  2. One month
  3. One year

And ask three questions:

  1. What do I need to do right now?
  2. What am I going to work on this next month?
  3. Where do I want to be in one year?

This helps teams with awareness of accessibility and an organised approach be proactive.

If your team isn't yet aware of accessibility, you haven't planned anything, there's no roadmap and you haven't yet taken any actions, that's okay.

Ask the same questions backwards.

  1. Where do I want to be in one year?
  2. What am I going to work on this next month?
  3. What do I need to do right now?

This helps you work backwards from an ambitious goal to the smallest action you need to take now to get there.

Either way, when align your accessibility priorities with the three ones, you'll no longer feel overwhelmed.

One day. One month. One year.
