As I finish the house renovations and have just moved in to the new place, I keep noticing more and more mistakes that I've made since I started.
- The walls are not quite straight and there are portions where I see small waves
- The LAN cable I've built into the walls is not working (this is most annoying)
- The colour I chose in the kitchen is easily stained and it's visible when cooking
- I should have put more power outlets in some places
- I could have anticipated that the gas pipes are old and need replacing
- I should have placed new floor in the hallway as well
And I could go on.
As much as I wish, I can't go back in time and fix these mistakes.
I can only move forward. You can only move forward.
If you've launched a product and it's not quite accessible. If you have complaints from users. If the framework you chose is limiting you. If you have headaches with the development process. If your team isn't trained in accessibility.
All of that is okay! You can't go back in time to fix anything, but you can work through these starting now.
Yes, it's more costly to rework some of these things. But it won't cost you as much as ignoring them.
