I wanted to close off these emails on triage with some rules. I call them "rules to set you free."
- You're allowed to say "no" to accessibility.
- You're allowed to revisit that "no."
- You're allowed to say "I need more resources."
- You're not allowed to say "yes, later" when you mean "no, never."
- You're not allowed to use "best effort" as a shield.
The kindest thing you can do, for your users, your team and yourself, is to tell the truth about what you build. That's what everyone deserves. Your users deserve honesty about what you're building for them. And your team deserves honesty about what they're signing up for.
Everyone loses when you say yes and mean no.
